The Basque Government will build 66 affordable rental homes for young tenants from Bilbao on Zorrotzaurre

03/10/2018

The Basque Government Council today authorised the construction of a residential building with 66 dwellings on Zorrotzaurre, aimed at the rental market at subsidised prices for persons under the age of 35 and preferably registered residents in Bilbao, for a maximum lease period of 5 years.

The Department of the Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing will be in charge of executing this building. To materialise the project, a collaboration agreement has to be signed between the Basque Government and Bilbao City Hall in order for the city authority to grant the land necessary for the operation, specifically plot AD-1, which lies on the right bank of Deusto canal (on the final stretch of calle Morgan).

The Basque Government agreement indicates that building work will begin within a maximum of four years counting from the agreement from City Hall to give up the land free of charge. Once terminated, the homes will be managed by the public entity Alokabide.
